Kick-off Event

The intent to prepare Nashik Climate Action Plan (CAP) was officially announced in an event headed by officials from the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Maharashtra, and WRI India. The kick-off meeting was held on 31st January 2022. This made Nashik one of the first cities in the state to commence preparation of a CAP to ensure low-carbon, green, and inclusive development. A meeting was held with all Heads of Departments to discuss and introduce the concept under the leadership of the Hon'ble Municipal Commissioner of Nashik.

Consultation for Climate Risk Hotspots

Following the kick-off event, an extensive consultation was held to discuss, identify and map the climate-induced hotspots - flooding, heat island, traffic-prone areas, etc.

Capacity Building Session on Vulnerability Analysis and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory

The half-a-day capacity building workshop on ‘Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory and Vulnerability Assessment’, saw participation from city-wide stakeholders such as officials from the municipal corporation, parastatal agencies, public sector undertakings and other line agencies. 

Draft Nashik Climate Action Plan Presentation

The half-a-day interactive workshop and presentation was organised for city-wide stakeholders covering the analysis, findings, and recommendations under the Nashik CAP. Through detailed discussion, perspectives of the contributing departments of NMC and other agencies were understood. The interactive session was also followed by a question and answers session.Â
